The Powerpuff Girls Rule!! Review

So I didn’t know this special was a thing until I was cruising PPG clips on YouTube. Great Googly Moogly, this one deserves a post! SPOILERS

Mario Kart & Villain Cameos

You heard me correctly. The Puffs are looking for the key to the world which the Mayor has managed to lose. Whoever holds the key to the world, actually rules the world. There’s this amazing part where the PPGs and villains all race back to Townsville in karts. If you’re wondering why the PPGs didn’t just fly, it’s because the Professor begged them to use the kart.

Literally every villain (except the Rowdyruffs and a few others) all make cameos while searching for the key in Townsville. Femme Fatal, Sedusa, the weird mind-control cat, the collector guy, and even the disco guy from “Boogie Frights”. But for most of the cameos, blink and you’ll miss it, because the episode is insanely fast. Literally everyone’s voice sounds like it’s been sped up.

Working Your Mojo

So, this episode mostly revolves around Mojo Jojo. Everyone from the casual fans who’ve seen exactly one episode to the die-hards knows that Mojo wants to be large and in charge. But this episode has Mojo…singing. He sings an incredibly obvious parody of “Part of Your World” when he is arrested at the beginning. Then he sings “Who Wants to Rule The World?” After being defeated by the Puffs. Literally, he’s singing and villains are flying through the air.

Beat Em Up Style

This episode is literally running around, screaming and yelling, and an unholy amount of punching. Seriously. As soon as the search for the key starts, the action does not stop. So for those of you who aren’t a fan of watching Him getting his teeth kicked in by Blossom, or the Gangreen Gang get pummeled by Buttercup, stay away from this episode. On the other hand, it’s fun to watch pure evil get his teeth kicked in.

Overall Rating

  • Action: 5/5
  • Story: 3/5
  • Cameos/references: 5/5
  • LOL Moments: 5/5

All in all, if you’re a more story-centric Powerpuff, this episode may not be your friend. But it marks the 10th anniversary of the Powerpuffs, so give it a watch!
